In our next Thursday evening meeting, we'll have more hands-on joy with inking tools, as we chat about the choice-filled life of the inker.
Warm up: Wake up your drawing brain with ink doodles (no penciling!)
In-class Exercise 1: Ink a panel on Bristol board (and and paper provided) Inking Decisions Demo-Lecture
Inking Decisions Lecture-Demo
In-class Exercise 2: TBA
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT is a sequel. Call it "TWISTED NURSERY RHYME 3: The Inkening" It's simply inking your story, old school or digitally (and using any other technique you fancy) to "plus" it and get readers to look at the important bits.
We'll talk about it in class; I'll address your Qs. If you have questions, or miss class, please call me or email me, OK? I work for you. Contact Info is on the weekly handout.
LATE EDIT-- "So All Can See..."
IMPORTANT TEACHERLY ASK! You guys, I'm asking that, from here on, you turn in your assignments as digital files you text me at 415 887-8610 - or - if the original is around 11x17 in., bring in the original, or a printout , or a copy 11x17 in. paper. I want badly for our review of each others' work to be shared...something we all take part in. This comes from my belief that to have multiple sympathetic eyes telling you how your work can be strengthened, and maybe how, is a glorious thing!
Doing things this way will take the greatest advantage of the flexibility of the systems that Gio has already built into For the Love of Comics.
Big Thanks,
JH
BTW, the goofy dialog in the orange balloon is my attempt to ape the writing style of Stan and others at 1970's Marvel. Yeah, that's how they wrote back then... :/
NEXT TIME
